Yaten sketchy by Seeraholic Yaten sketchy by Seeraholic
2013. 09. 30.

I finished the lineart in July, hence the difference in the dates.
I originally intended this to be a part of a sketch collection, but I liked how it turned out and I spent more time on it than one would spend on a sketch anyway.

Hi!

Is interesting, I always told you about the textures in your drawings, because I love it. And this one is much more about shades than textures, and I like to see something new from you. Still love the textures in your past works, but is always good to see something new! =)

Anyway, I always love how you draw Yaten xD.

Hugs!

Well, yeah, there are absolutely no textures here :) I always wanted to make simple colourings like this, but at the end I could never help but throw in some gradients etc. :)

I like to experiment with different styles and I'm glad that you like it too :) It's just weird because I think my way of drawing Yaten tends to differ from picture to picture and you still say you always love how I draw him... Is there something in common in all of my Yaten drawings perhaps? Apart from the fact that it never looks like the original anime version?

is not about how you draw it. I guess sometimes his body is different, his face. But I think you preserve his essence and that's why I like it. Is not like you are drawing someone who looks like Yaten but you feel is like Seiya. I don't know if it makes sense for you, but for me, since I just watch all the works from other people and don't draw, it's very important to "feel" what I'm watching. Uhmm
Is like, when you read something, and is so perfectly written, but you don't feel a thing because is just technical perfection, and no emotion.
And in all your variations of Yaten, I feel is him. That's it. It makes sense? Or I'm totally nuts? xD

It does make sense, thanks. I guess it is because my love for that character. No matter how I draw him, I try to put in that "something" which makes him Yaten in my eyes and not just some random male character. I'm glad that someone notices it too :)
